Wire right under the throttle cable/oil dipstick mount

There is a wire that is in the mount that the oil dip stick and throttle cable on that same mount.   For some reason, that cable on my car  ( the end opposit the mount)  is not connected to anything.  Now my car wont start.  it has a u connection, so obviously it goes around a screw or something.

Does anyone know what it is, and where it goes?   Is that why my car wont start?

so again, the wire is connected at the mount which holds the throttle cable, and the oil dipstick.   It wraps  around the hose on the side of the radiator fluid resivor hap a plastic tie around it an has a u  shaped connection at the end.  I have no idea where it goes, and my starter will not turn.

Sounds like perhaps it's time to take this to a mechanic. From your description it's almost impossible to tell which wire that you might be talking about.

ive been a mechanic for about 6 years and before that i was a 12v specialist not to metion ive had a few saabs myself so i know the cars prettty well from what you decribed to me the wire sounds like a ground if its coonected to the metal on the motor and not to anything else try connecting it to the NEGATIVE batt termanal and see if it starts also a picture of the wire and where it runs would help greatly feel free to email me at viggensport@gmail.com

Thanks for replying. I will take a picture of it tmorrow. it will not rach the battery. It is on the drivers side, right where the diptstick/throttle cable is mounted. The wire is is "strapped' with a tie to the outgoing hose from the coolant resvoir,toward the front near the alternater. because of the U at the end, it goes somewhere, but i dont know whwere. Alternator? it is not attached to the starter, but one ebd is under the bolt of the throttle cable and the oil dip stick mount . I replaced the clutch master cylinder, and as the master to slave hose was just locked in the Cluc master, I had to break the hose. it was stripped. This wire will reach to exactly the point that the bracket holding the hose is screwed in if you reach it back toward the mount.. I can see no other place it would go. the car sat for about 2 weeks while I waited for the hose. the battery was low, as maybe I left the interior lite on or something. I had the battery charged and tested, and when I turn the key, all the ligts on dash come on, I hear the "buzz" but the starter will not turn at all. . It was fine before the battery went dead, but I cant get the starter to turn. I have not taken the starter our, or had it tested, but I cannot see how it would just go, while sitting there for 2 weeks. it is fairly new. Then I saw this wire, which looks like it mounts to the inside of the engine wall, maybe beneath wear the bracket for the clutch hous is mounted, It has a U on the end, and is exactly the right leangth. so I am wondering if this is a ground for the solonoid,? Or how could have the starter burned out just, sitting there? I have power to everything, headlights, blinkers etc etc, battery is good, but there is this wire, and he starter will not turn. sorry it is hard to explain these thing. 1. it is mounted at one end where the "mount for the throttle cable ( where you can rev the engine by opening the throttle, and the oil dip stick is also on the mount. the wire runs back toward the coolant resevoir, where there is a tie strap to the colloant outgoing hose, and it wetiher goes sowhere in front nesr the fire wall, or if you brought it back qound the hose would fit rigt where the screw to the mount that holds the clutch master, slave hose, which has a screw holding it against the inside wall. I turn the key, hear the buzz, and the click, but the starter will not turn. There is nothing different from when it started before, except this wire. I cant see it in the manual, nothing, but it is obviously something as the starter will not turn. Unless startes go bad just sitting there, then its not the starter. I will try to take a photo tomorrow. I need to get this fixed, as i need my car for medical reasons, and I waited 3 weeks for the hose. I appreciate the help greatly. The car is in excellent shape, but whenever I took the hose out, this wire came some somewhere, and it would seem logical that it does something. Where it connects at the throttle/oil funnel mount looks like it is a ground end, so I am thinking the U end came off of something that would turn the starter around the coolant, brakefluid, master resevoir. I would love to take it to a mechanic, but honestly, that 300-400-500- is about the cost of my chemo treatment. no problem im always up for a challege haha any way the way you described it it sounds like its a ground for the starter see if you can get to the starter and youll see a big thick wire, that the hot lead from the battery and 2 smaller wires attached to smaller posts on the solinoid, one is the power for the solinoid and the other is the ground for it make sure those are attached securely and if you have a test light or multimeter make sure ther have power and ground the ground side withh be constant and the power side on the solinoid will have power when to turn the key(best you have some one help you with this) the thick cable going to the starter should have power at all times and the starter gets its ground through the engine block... also is the car auto or stick?there are safety switches that will also not let the starter turn if they go bad i think the best bet is to check for power and ground at the starter and take it from there but then again its hard to say without acually seeing it haha but if you get that picture up we can take it from there...

another shot. The wire is mounted right belwow the throttle cable. so I think that is the grounding point .

so from the throttle mount, you can see the tie around the radiato tamk hose, and it looks like it is meant to come back under. but I was changing the clutch hose and it would it to exactly where the screw for the bracket. so I clearly knocked it off somewhere, and I will check the solonoid. it looks like everything is there, and like I said, I cant imagine the starter burning out just sitting there. The battery did drain( left interior light on, but turn the key now, I can hear the battery power noise, but will not turn at all. So I am wonder if this wire is it. nobody seems to know what it does, but with the U end, it goes somewhere. I appreciate everyones help!!

doesnt reach the starter. all the starter wires are there. Would it go under the screw that holds the clutch hose? it is perfect length for that what would ground from the throttle housing to the boady where the cluctch hose is held to the body?

yeah def a ground wire for the intake manifold i dont see how this could cause a starting problem but go ahaed and hook it to the clutch hose bracket see if anything happens if not id say to grab a test ligh or multimeter and check for power and ground at the starter wires

what is the best wrench to connect the clutch hose to the slave? I am having an issue with that. It it hard so I can use an open turned sideways? get this done, I am close to wheels ! Thanks for all yor help . I appreciate it

you can try useing a open turned sideways but you might need to get a crows foot to get it on if the open doesnt work

make sure the cluttch line is tight on the slave thats the last thing you want to leak also dont forget to bleed it real good

well, it a snag. In replacing the clutch house, I think I got the wrong one. sure doesnt look like the other one, and it does not form to the bracket or mounts. connected great to the master, but the slave, had fluid shooting out the middle of the fastner. I call the guy back, the shop in Nc, and tell him I think its the wrong hose, and he goes off on me. said he sells thousands of those a week, and never had a problem." sells 1,00's a week? wow, didn't know that were that many 93's still around. Had my last one for over a million miles and never had to replace the clutch hose. clutch only once. so now, I have just blasted brake fluid all over the inside of the car. where does everyone get their parts? this is the 3 rd time this year this gut=y has sent me something wrong. last 5 years, excellent service, but something has gone seriously wrong.Didint even ask to refund my money, or look at the part. I still had the fastner/slave end from the old hose, went it perfectly, so the slave is not stripped. Its the wrong part. so if any one want a very nice 93, new about everything, with records, its yours. I am tired of people BS me on parts.

eiher the hose was bent, or the slave is stripped. crowes foot worked, but But I cant get it in, so I am suming the slave is strip, because the hose was bent. Does that men a new slave now? this whole clutch kit is laess than a year old

group9performance.com is a good place for aftermarket saab parts too...its a little expensive but i had alot of their products in my old saab and i will stand by their quality 200% ive never had any of their parts fail on me even while running 24 lbs of boost

115,000 I was frustrated. I guess I am lucky though that the 93 you can replace the slave only . WHen they shipped the hose, they put it in a box, but the slave end they had bent it to put it in the box, so either the slave was stripped( I did have a hard time getting that end out) or the new hose slave sonnecter stripped it when I put it in. The clutch was less than 4,000 miles, so it is good. I have all the records from the people i bought it from, but I am thinking they didnt replace the slave when they replaced the clutch. The things that BURNS me is that I took it to a saab specialist shop before I bought it, and paid them to look at EVERYTHING. there were a few minor things, but other than that mint. I am finding that there were some things they over looked. Kind of defeats why I paid to have them check everything. . so, The guy who sent the hose is denying they could have bent it( it came that way as the fastner to slave wouldn't slide on the hose) and a slave i can get for pretty reasonable. surprisingly, alot of stuff I can get at autozone. I got the new maters cylinder there, new, for 69.00 not bad. If I sell it, you will be the first to know. Ironically, with almost a million miles on my old 92, all I ever had to replace was the clutch one time, and the crank shaft sensor. changed the oil every 2,200 miles never a problem. It even oveheated one time as a hose had cracked, and I thought for sure the block was gone. the engine was 99 % new compression when I got rid of it.
