I have a 2001 ES 300, the doors keep locking and unlock constantly. The key fob won't unlock the doors and when I put the key in the door to unlock it the alarm goes off. What is causing this?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The door locks constantly lock and unlock whether the car is running or shut off. I have replaced the battery in the key fob but it won't unlock the car. When I put the key in the door to unlock it, the alarm goes off.  I removed the fuse for the horn so as to stop the
embarrassment.  Help

I had the same problem in an old car. At first I thought it was a short, but it ended up to be the little pin-button-sensor-thing that checks if the door is open or closed. There was too much play in the switch, so it wouldn't auto-lock consistently, and it would freak out when it wanted to lock when driving.
