I have a 2006 6 cylinder Vue. The AC compressor is always running even when the AC on button is not pressed. Any suggestions on how to stop it running all the time?

I took the fuse out and of course the compressor turned off. However, other odd things
occurred. When in Drive, doors no longer automatically locked and transmission would
not upshift to 4th. I put the fuse back in. I'd like to pull the connector to the compressor
but can't get to it. Any suggestions?

The pully on the compressor will always turn. The clutch inside of the pully will engage and disengage as needed. Is the clutch always spinning with the pully?
The compressor will also be on when you have the front defroster on. The a/c helps with the dry winter air.
Yes, clutch is always spinning. And the defroster is not engaged. It runs so much that the coil freezes. That's how I noticed something was wrong. Puddles of clear wanter appeared under the car. That caused me to investigate and experiment, example, pulling the fuse. Thanks for the support, it's really appreciated!
Ahh ok. That's not good. Maybe the wiring harness to the compressor is shorting to ground somewhere? Start at the compressor and work your way back to the fusebox. Look for any cuts, nicks, exposed or melted wires.

Anyone find a solution for this? Mine does the same thing, frozen coils, terrible gas mileage. I can't tell if the coils are frozen from lack of air flow, or if some non compressible gas is in the system causing a pressure imbalance that keeps the clutch engaged... Or maybe it's just a wiring problem? Not entirely sure how this particular system is designed to operate.
I am also looking for an answer for this. In the meantime, I removed the compressor relay (in the fuse under the hood). With gas prices getting close to the $7 range, time to make everything work efficiently! Ray
