my front passenger car tire is becoming worn on the inside. it started leaking air so i brought it to a repair shop to swap out the tire for a new one. the repair guy said he fixed the leak, plugged and sealed, but should i have replaced the whole tire anyways? do i have to worry about it blowing regardless of it no longer leaking?

if the repair was not 1 inch or less from the side wall ...should be ok...but how worn? thats the question..if badly worn replace asap.....

it's not terribly worn, but it's getting there. when i brought it in i was told it could last another few months until winter. i plan on replacing the tires within the next week or two, I just wanted to make sure the tire is safe enough for highway driving and to get me to my mechanic (he's 45 km away from me). if the seal is good enough, that's awesome, but now i think i should've just replaced it altogether lol

As long as it was repaired properly, doesn't have the steel belt showing, holds air and wasn't ran flat very long I would run it.

I agree with tennisshoes if tire is wearing on the inside there is a problem with the front end. Should get front end checked and get a front end alignment.

Although there is obviously an alignment issue for what ever reason, that does not answer his question.

anyway..yes the front end needs alignment but when she puts on a new tire or two...then align it at the same time.......

You are so right Bob so to answer that question they should have the tires rotated so that the worn tire would be on the back of the vehicle.

no..why tear up another tire on the front..tires and aligment same time.

It will last longer then the one that is on there now. The one that is on the front now is worn the one on the rear most likely not so when they rotate the tires it wil take a while for the rear tire that was put on front to wear down as the one that was on the front.
