Question type: Car Customization

can i put a 99 explorer 4.0 auto trans 2wd in a 95  ranger 4x4 manual trans 3.0

Possible? Probably but this is a major job as the engine is OBD2 and the 95 is OBD1. Using the 2WD transmission would mean you only would have 2WD.

No. The bellhousing on the trans is totally different. Bolts will not line up. You would also need to change wire harness and either have the computer programed for automatic or get a new computer that's is already set up for an automatic. You can put an automatic from a ranger that had a 2.8 2.9 or a 4.0 they all 3 have the same bolt pattern. But I would stick with a Manual transmission because the automatic is so prone to failure.

The 3.0 in ford can only use a 3.0 trans. No interchange available.
