Ignition Coils... OEM Versus High Performance Coil

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Am I really gonna get better performance from my car using an Eccel ignition coil over an OEM replacement coil. I can get 4 OEM for $100 dollars down the street today. I can get 4 Eccel's for $200 dollars on line but have to wait for a few days is it worth the extra money and wait. I have no problem waiting if I'm actually gonna get real performance improvement Thanks

Ditto, I could not have said it better except I am not familiar with Gymkhana. But I can guarantee tennisshoes knows what he is talking about. But it's a Scion...? What do you expect from a shoe box on wheels? I just don't get it? What is wrong with the coils now?
OEMs are usually the best. Fords have the same issue, OEMs work the best others are iffy. OEM Ford coil on plugs will support over 900 HP. Now I know you don't have a Ford, but the same thing applies. The car makers today make a pretty good product. Their high voltage ignition systems are top notch. There are other ways to make more power and the Accel coils are not it. Do some "Googling" to see what others say. Ask for a dyno chart from Accel on the supposed gains. A quality cold air intake will do more and likely cost less.
Like that car there Bob, good evening...
Hello Rowefast, just sharing a photo of the wife's MKZ. She likes it!
The last post on this forum is interesting.......http://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-tc-1g- drivetrain-power-1637/accel-coils-229777/
i have not tested this theory. but: 1)high performance draws more power from the driver transistor and will burn out the coil and driver transistor faster but spark hotter and give more power 2)heavy duty coils suggests same as oem but more expensive engineering and should last longer run cooler and endure more heat so the maintenance cycle is longer and costs less to maintain uses the same power and puts the same load on the driver transistors 3)oem coils are economic designed to last 4 years.
