It is recomended to run Premium gas in all Subaru's.

The Forester XS being non-turbo does not require premium. The XT does. I've run regular unleaded in all my non-turbo Subarus for quite a while. Premium won't hurt, but you won't see any advantage from it. FYI, the BRZ is the only non-turbo Subaru that requires premium fuel.
