How Do I replace the rear brake light on my 2008 E 350.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Where do I begin in gaining access to the rear light on my E Class. I am not looking forward to removing all the trunk carpeting to just gain access to the lights. Any Ideas?

Here's my idea- for what it's worth- all 21st Century cars have been engineered to be difficult to work on- so owners will leave them alone- especially the German cars- they are really good at engineering for their own benefit- the 3rd stop light on the back of my New Beetle went out, but the bulb could NOT be replaced- had to buy a whole new housing- cost: $185- since I was gonna spend that much, I just had the dealer install it- see how that works?

I do not see any panels that will allow you to accesss the element to change a break light on my 2007 350 Mec.
