Water pump went out the other night. Had to run it til it got hot. Just had hit (h). Put new pump on today and started it. Heater blown cold air and started to over heat. Top rad hose didn't get warm

Low coolant causes this. Check coolant level again. System needs to have air pockets burped out of it.
Radiator full. Top hose never got hard or hot. I can squeeze too hose and hear fluid move in radiator. Thought if thermostat stuck it would've been hard.
When engine cools back off remove the radiator cap. You will probably find that it's low again. Add needed coolant then start engine back up. Carefully watch the level in the open cap of the radiator. As it drops add more coolant. Some times squeezing the top hose will help speed up this process.
I give that a try tomorrow. Didn't know if overheating the engine may have affected the thermostat. Just confused why it didnt seem to take any coolent through the engine. Maybe I put cap on to soon?
Starting it up with cap removed completely seemed to work. Not sure if there was a lil ice built up somewhere or just air in system but heater is working and not overheating no
Thanks. Will take around town today and see what happens before I hit interstate with it. Anybody considering water pump on their own . It's not hard at all. 3rd dodge I've done and newest actually the easiest.
