how many miles can the engine run before needing to be replaced

I think that in general it's not a very good idea to be looking at cars with such high mileage. You need to know how the car has been maintained and what has been replaced and whether or not routine maintenance was done. That being said, 156km is not high for an 11 year old car.
i currently own a 96 acura rl and i have put near 171 k miles on it. have had transmission work and does currently have an oil leak and needs new oxygen sensors. as far as the engine as a whole id say 300k miles. mine still runs strong and can even take reguar fuel
I have a 1996 Acura RL with 204,000 miles on it. I have had not a problem with it. Everything still works on it. The RL is a very well built car.
It is a good idea to find out the past history of the car. I bought a 2003RL with 111,000. I had no problem purchasing this car as it had been well maintained.
Yea I agree....its all about how the car was maintained....was the oil changed regularly...was the t belt water pump and pump replaced....were all fluid changed ever 10-15000 miles.....if t was well maintained u can easily hit 300,000+
i need help looking for a car want an 97 rl whats the most miles i should buy it at
I have a 98 Acura 3.5rl and right now it's at 312k an still running great!
Hi, as for the Acura RL as long as no oil leaks timing belt and fluids have been kept up spark plugs and so on i would never worry about high miles i have 1 it has 2001.000 it still runs like the engine hasn't been broke in it wouldn't surprise me to get 4000.000 or more miles from an 3.5 Honda engine
I have a 2002 TL with 284K miles. Zero problems with the engine. The transmission was replaced awhile ago (about 200k miles), the front squeaks/creaks, gas tank leaks, cruise control went out, hood latch broke, almost every warning light is on, there is a whole somewhere before the muffler so the car is super loud and awesome sounding when you're accelerating. Favorite car ive ever owned. If you're interested: tppt24@yahoo.com
I had a 1996 Acura rl I bought brand new and I hated it from about the first week I bought it. The console rattled, the headliner buzzed, the slide for the moonroof rattled which after spending $41,000 for a car and expecting a pleasurable driving experience it was a big letdown. The transmission would intermittently clunk between 2nd and 3rd fear which would never happen for the Acura techs until 8 years later at 80000 miles. They finally replaced the tranny. The 3.5 engine manifold would carbon up every 50,000 miles at $600 a whack. The car was brought in for all of the scheduled maintenance intervals religiously. Both rear window motors failed within 5 years at almost $700.00 per window. I finally sold it last spring for $1500.00 at 210,000 miles. I know Acura has a reputation for quality but I will never never buy another Acura product.
I have a 2005 acura rl. 305 thousand miles. Motor and transmission are original. Motor sounds as good as new. Rides excellent. I am the original owner.

I also have a 2005 RL. It has 208k miles on it. I am the original owner. Same transmission and engine since I bought it in 2005. Daily driver car for 15 years and going. I’ve only replaced normal wear and tear stuff.....engine mounts, shocks and struts, stabilizer bars and bushings, drivers side window actuator, (just replaced the original water pump at 205k Miles, brakes rotors pads and tires, batteries, spark plugs. I still have the original alternator, original starter, original catalytic converter (passed emissions tests, I live in Illinois). The car has been so good to me, that I opted to have the front seats reupholstered and had the passenger door skin replaced and painted because it was rusting. Most panels in the par are aluminum, so they don’t rust. A couple speakers are blown, and the CD player doesn’t work anymore, but everything else is tip top. (I do have a little rust in the week well of the rear tire, wouldn’t be worth it to fix.
