1st generations had the option of 3 engines, 2.2L Turbo, 2.2L non-turbo, and a 3.0L V6, ive had a V6 and the turbo, unless your really looking to do a lot of mods, id stick with the engine ur car came with, but since ur asking the question ur probably looking to go big or go home... the tuebo 2.2L is def the fastest and strongest motor of all the ford probe and Mazda MX6 generations, except for the Japanese 2.5L KLZE for the 2nd gen, hope that little bit of info helps... if your trying to go custom, ive seen LS7, 3.0L 2JZ engines, all sorts of custom installs, even a twincharged 3.0L factory V6... its all up to your imagination
