Want to put a 4.5 Diesel engine in my 1960 Ford F-100

What brand engine? If you are thinking to install a modern diesel with electronic engine management and blue fluid injection think again. I would go with a 4 or 6 cylinder Cummins mechanically injected engine. http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/expert-advice/1101dp-swap- a-cummins-into-anything/

That Ford engine is 835 pounds dry. Your F100 would have a problem with that much weight. Then again the Cummins is heavy too. I would look at swapping in the front suspension from a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck.
