Acceleration Disfunction
I have an 02' Ford Explorer. When
pushing down to accelerate, the car
just putters away, while the speed
slowly decreases. Only way to get
home is slowly puttering at 30 mph,
with my foot pressed all the way down
on the gas pedal. This doesn't occur all
the time, and oddly enough, seems to
only happen when it gets cold. That
also may be just a coincidence. Also, it
will randomly accelerate on it's own,
even while parked. My dad was a
grease monkey, but died before he
could teach me more. I was under the
impression that it might be either the
Cadillac converter o2 sensor, or a
clogged air way or filter. Oh, and I also
noticed a few months ago that my
exhaust pipe or muffler is not releasing
any pressure. Pressure seems to be
coming out from either underneath the
car, or the hood. I've taken it to a few
mechanics, but I know enough to know
that they are just thinking they can con
a pretty girl who doesn't know
anything. Thank you, and I look forward
to your response.
