2001 Cadillac Deville new thermostat leaking.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 Cadillac deville leaking from new thermostat. with the OEM thermostat is
there supposed to be a o-ring or a sealant of some sort between the
thermostat and thermostat housing? The GM thermostat does not have a seal
on it so its just metal to metal when its put together and it pours our coolant.
I recall when i took of the original thermostat not seeing a sealant or o-ring but
I could be wrong. Everything I have searched for doesnt give me the
information i need. Attached photo is the thermostat i have.
