Just bought a 2000 Cadillac Deville with 220,000 miles. Figured it would last a while figuring out I was probably wrong. Service engine soon light is on, the heater isn't getting very warm it does maybe for a few minutes and its overheating. My husband changed the thermostat changed the waterpump the guy we bought it from said a auto shop checked and the head gasket is fine but I have no paperwork to prove it but no water in the oil. Should we try to have radiator flushed or what else could it be the water from radiator is really nasty dirty. Any suggestions can't afford to spend any more money on this car. Thanks for any help or suggestions

the condition of the air filter, near the pcv valve, if is all oily, then oil smoke is getting into the crankcase, do a compression test to see if all cylinders are normal, not one with more compression, a dry test so you can count the number of seconds for leak down, comparatively will give you a clearer idea of how this mill has been worn down over the miles-

...also condition of the spark plugs when you pull 'em out, if whitish near the electrode, oily and fouled, carboney and choked or pretty much normal would be nice-

Air filter is clean, don't know what else could be. There is no leak under car, could it be radiator ?

the PVC valve (that evil oily one-way) for oil smoke, to enter the intake from the valve cover might be malfunctioning and puffin gas down into the crankcase...check it's operation, with a jiggy-jiggle it should rattle like a maracas...else replace it...they are around seven bucks last time I checked...this could lead to rough and dying too-

coolant in the oil...if it is coolant? you see 7jimmy7 wants to condemn this engine 'cause the smileage, but I think there is still hope, yes 100,000 was junker time in the olden days, but since the nineties technology has improved and do believe if the steering wheel bearing isn't all worn out and the brake doesn't want to travel sideways both these things happened to my cab 96 in Milwaukee, so if your vehicle isn't "taxicab" worn to where rediculous things are failing, then we have a winner....give that man a cigar!

keep runnin the caddy after meltdown...had this experience with my '61--- buggy will still go, like an evil rickety can of marbles, but life after overheat can continue, albeit loss of apparent dignity~

that funky pushed in trunk lookin thing basically an oldsmobile rolling stock with a clownish back end....the cimarron, was it? what a piece of junk!
