How good is Volkswagen Routan 2009 minivan engine with 134,000 mileage
Have a mechanic check it out. It could be good or a piece of junk.
If it's maintained well, should go 200,000 miles.....how much is it?
We have a 2011 with 235k and still running strong.
The engine might be great, but the electrical might be going. I own a 2011 Routan SEL and have had to replace the mechanism in the sliding doors twice and now one door is seized shut for good or when I want to throw away $1400. The driver's seat electronics has also been replaced 2 times. The Safety Harness System has been replaced twice (the chimes made me crazy). Now the dash lights for the tire air pressure comes on while driving and tells me one of my tires is a 0 PSI. The AC went out and when I brought it in to get the system recharged, they told me the lines to the back seats were corroded, leaking and needed to be replaced. Another $1200 service fee that was altered as I had them cap the system to the back and only provide AC to the front of car. And just now my remote start kicked on by itself while I was inside and my keys hanging on the key hook. I came to this site to see if I can find out if anyone else has these issues. I was looking at a VW Atlas, but will never ever purchase a VW again, unless I win the lottery and have money for unlimited car repairs.
Just traded it in with 245k miles. Small issues, still ran fine. For the commenter thinking about an Atlas, be aware the Routins were mechanically 95% Dodge Grand Caravan, not a Volkswagon.
Currently own 2011 Rotan ( essentially a Dodge Grand Carvan) many issues are very similar to The Chrysler Town and Country and Grand Caravans of the same years . These were all built by Chrysler in the Winddor Ont. CANADA PLANT . Mine has over 275,000 km on it and I got it at 150,000km . Other than standard maintenance it's has had less issues than my former Pontiac Montana. I too had the rear air conditioning system capped as with all Dodge units this is an issue after 5years as the rear lines are subject to corrosion because they are exposed directly behind the rear passenger wheel well . ( Stupid design) but generally I overload the unit with all my work tools but it has preformed well . I actually am looking for another unit as I like it's style . It was also the design with modifications for the new Chrysler Pacifica that replaced the Town and Country .
