Could a bad solenoid cause the engine to stall? (code P0755)

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my 2001 Chrysler Sebring (has about 60K miles on it) when
the car suddenly stalled.  I was able to get it started again but it stalled
again a couple more times before I got it home (~ 3 miles).  It started up
again all three times.  The last time I started it, the CEL came on.  I took it
to a mechanic and he said the diagnostic showed a code of (P0755). He
wants to charge me $925 to replace the solenoid pack.  I've been
researching this code and can not find anything that says a symptom of
this code is engine stalling, only that it can get stuck between 2nd/3rd
gear.  The car sat unused for a bout a week before I was able to drive it to
the mechanic shop (about 3-4 miles away).  It did not stall on the way
there, but I wouldn't take it over 20 mph.    Do these symptoms sound
plausible for that kind of code?  I want to be sure before I ok the repairs.
Thanks for any advice!
Christine

Here is the infirmation on the code you have...http://easyautodiagnostics.com/chrysler /3.3L-3.8L/transmission-code-p0755-tests-1

It's the shift solenoid and will put the car in the limp mode and will not let you go over 20 miles an hour so that is correct but the stalling doesn't make sense...

Thats a part you can change yourself, if you are handy, the price is alittle on the high side to me, but that may be the going price where you live..

joemom, It is weird. My car will she shift through the gears fine. Doesn't seem to go into limp mode, just stalls; it does jerk slightly before stalling. I didn't go above 2ph because I was being extra cautious, but it will go above 20.
