@tennisshoes: Fuel pump "hums" when key is turned on like I've been told it's supposed to. How do I tell if the ground supply is good? Where/how would I find out?

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango. While driving, I lost all power to the wheels, yet all electrical and engine seemed to be operating. Pulled over, and it would not move , regardless of what gear I put it in ( N, R, D, 1, 2 ) My first guess is the transmission went out, but could there be a sensor or other cause for this. I thought it was the auto cruise control that was setting it off, but it does it even when the ACC is off.
