Just to make sure, I'd spray some anti oxidation electronics cleaner into the light sockets sockets and crawl under the truck to see if there are connectors where the brake light wiring splits to go to the 3rd light, left and right - if so spray there also then try known good lights again. (you could check the light circuitry with an ohm meter if you don't want to buy new ones) I'd also run my fingers over the wiring under the truck to feel for a break in the insulation. I had an experience where I couldn't find where the short was until I feel a small ruff spot on the wiring harness - sure enough it was a microscopic crack in the insulation causing the problem.
