What happens if power steering fluid was accidentally put
in the transmission reservoir of a 1999 Durango?

There is no such thing as a transmission reservoir. Did you had the PS fluid via the dipstick tube? Post a photo below of where you added the fluid. Some power steering systems use ATF via PS fluid BTW. I suggest you get some help and or do more research before working on your car next time. We all have to start somewhere.
