I would double-check that power steering belt. Yukons with the V8 engine (4.8, 5.3, or 6.0) have 2 belts on the front of the engine. The main belt is very easy to see from the top with the hood open. The air conditioning is driven by a small, separate belt on the passenger side of the engine that is harder to see. If you really do have both belts, and the p/s fluid is full, then you have probably got a bad power steering pump.

my question is did you lose it permantly or just while parking cause if it is just while parking at low speeds it is supposedly a normal thing but if you lost it completly you may have broken the internals of the pump and need a new one and i have that same year yukon and i work for a dealer so contact if you need more help

The power steering pump shaft may have broken inside the pump. pry out on the power steering pully and if it moves out the shaft inside the pump is broken.

I you have a new pump and still no steering I would check the online high pressure valve that or a clog in lines or bleed air out of lines.

I have 2000 Tahoe 4x4 with a power steering problem. When driving on a hot day the steering stick when turning brakes are applied. It will fill like manual steering. Shut it off for a minute and it goes away.
