Ok guys what would be some good after market parts for my 1995 GMC SIERRA with a 305 i want moré horsepower And torque

A 350. Just kidding. Scrapped the 454 idea I see. First of all some 305 were good most were not. I already know that it's a 2wd is it a reg cab or ext cab and what box short, long stepside. And what are you gettin for fuel milage on the highway? There are some easy things to do with basic tools or more complex things with better tools. Most parts off the 350 will fit on your engine you just have to pick a direction of modification and ensure you add parts that compliment each other.

Option 1. You should have the 10 bolt rear end. Dropping to 4.1 gear ratio in the back will wake up the truck, you will have the same engine power but it will feel like more. Few tools required to setup the new/used crown and pinion. Or swap to a used rear end, just have to fight with the e-brake cables.

Option 3. New heads and cam and the stuff I mentioned above. But unless you go for a torque based gain with a cam you will need to get a custom tune burnt for your truck. Or swap to a carb and cover the check engine light. Haha.

Just depends on how well the 305 runs. What's your milage at on the highway. If it's a dog your better off getting a 5.7 then doing the second thing when you can afford it. Some 305's are not worth modding. I have one of each.

So would You just go with the 454

No never (unless it's a mucle car or large 4x4). It's to heavy. And it burns to much fuel for what you get. I would not put to much money into a 305 unless it is a good one. You cannot go wrong with a 350. Lots of parts. Lots of cheap parts. You can also bore/stroke a 350 and build some mean power. The 350 in the pic is a 383 stroker with dart s/s wedge heads, she eats trannies and is wrapped in a garbage bag right now because it's cost to much money to run (in gas a parts). I'm thinking it want's a boat to torque up. If your set on a swap I would throw a LS1 in it. Nice and light, and tons of power. Lots of aftermarket kits out now, makes swaping easy.

yetilikesbeer listed some good aftermarket parts that will help with getting what you want.Ive got a 1996 GMC K1500 with a 5.7 VORTEC and I was wanting more,so I installed VOLANT cold air intake,GIBSON shorty headers,with full lenght dual exhaust running through a pair of FLOMASTER series 40 mufflers.The engine picked up on horsepower and torque and runs great but the real horsepower and torque gain came when I installed a B.B.K. PORTED 75mm THROTTLE BODY!!!WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE it made.If you are on a budget just try the cold air intake and a PORtED THROTTLE BODY!!!Just GOOGLE ported trottle body for your engine and look for B.B.K. PORTED THROTTLE BODY.Easy install and incredible gains.GOOD LUCK!!!!

One issue with modding the 305 is resale. Most GM guys hate that engine and will not consider buying it. I avoid them, even though we had a good one. Our bad one (the lemon) ruins my opinion of every other 305.

Bigc52 I believe he's TBI. There are aftermarket units but they are not worth the money unless you upsize the injectors and chip. I have tried the holley (on a 350 it compares to the stock TBI with higher flow injectors did not see any air flow gains). Dyno tuning would be the best on a emulator, dial it in then burn the chip. Dam OBD 1 and 1.5. I have not looked in awhile but they may make ported TBI units. I just got mad at the sensor failures on the TBI unit and threw on my 650 thunder carb, way better just hard to start. It's got all the stock stuff back on it, don't need it with a uni-speed tranny (only has first on tranny 5 haha)
