Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1995 GMC Sierra C/K 2500 - 6.5 Turbo Diesel - Everything was fine and went to move the truck and now the truck does not have reverse.  What could have caused this?

The transmission fluid has been changed and full. The reverse still does not work. The truck did not make any noise then or now.

reverse band is worn out, there is a cheap way out that will last a couple of months before you have to pull the transmision and REBUILD!. remove trans pan and oil, loosen valve body, remove rear drum like (about the size of a soda can 2" diameter 1 " height) with 6 bolts, carefull because is under strong spring pressure, after releasing spring pressure, it will slide out and a little canted so it can clear the now loosen valve body (no need to completelly remove the VB), it has a piston that drives a shaft about 3/8" dia (secions of 1/2"), about 4" length... this particular rod you have to solder a new tip about 1/8" MORE length... assembli in reverse order. http://www.blackout.nu/RACES/2007/test0702.htm Google: 4L80 reverse servo pictures...
