Asked by buzrhees Jan 31, 2019 at 09:10 AM about the 1998 Ford Ranger

Question type: General

I have replaced the bumper with a steel plate and it seems to tow well but my
power steering pump is over flowing .  I disconnect the battery turn key on
and place in neutral for towing.  have only tested for a few miles but want to
take cross country

Sounds normal, turning the steering wheel without the engine running will cause fluid out of the pump. Have a good trip.

If you have an automatic transmission you should not flat tow your Ranger. You also need a supplemental braking system in the Ranger to be legal.
