Engine cooling system leaks Low levels of coolant A faulty thermostat (thermostat that is stuck in the closed position) A blockage in the coolant passageways A faulty radiator Worn out radiator hoses A faulty radiator fan A faulty water pump
Some heater cores have a solenoid-activated valve that opens to allow coolant to flow into heater core. If your cooling system is running low on coolant, and then has to supply coolant to heater core, it can run too low to keep engine running at its optimal temperature. So first step is to check your coolant levels. The degas bottle has markings on its side for "cold" and "hot" fill levels. Be sure to top it off. If that doesn't fix your problem post back.
