The temp knob( the metal is exposed because the plastic cover is gone)is so hot it made a blister on my finger and thumb when I turned it. What would cause this?

Check and make sure it doe,s not heat up with car off,if it stay,s heated,you need to remove heater blower fuse,untill you have it repaired.
