VW Beetle ignition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ignition will not turn.  Just got the vehicle for my
daughter. Steering wheel is locked.  Move the
steering up and down and still no luck.  I starting to
hate VW

We just had the same issue with a 2014 Nissan Frontier at my dealership. The tumblers inside the ignition switch were bad. Wound up replacing the switch. Got the new switch at AutoZone. It was less than $300 including labor. You may also try getting someone to help you rock the vehicle back and forth from front to rear. For some reason that often works. Just to be certain it's not just locked up.
