Transmission

Asked by Jason Mar 16, 2016 at 10:31 PM about the 2000 Honda Passport

Question type: General

What's the difference in the transmissions for the yrs 00-02
from either the 98-99 and or the 03-04. I know a
replacement engine is the same for 96-03 or something like
that, so I'd assume the transmissions would be relatively
the same as well. I have a 2000 passport, registration
shows it as a 99 for the yr, but a 00 model.  Having a hard
time finding an 00-02 auto tranny 4x4, but the 98-99 and
03-04 , I see plenty of and for about half the price. Is it
possible to make a 99 work with my vehicle, and if so what
changes would be necessary to do so

You really need to get the factory numbers from the casting on the transmission, and check with either Honda or a transmission shop that uses a good cross reference database. Lots of things change between year models, is:electronic connections, Mount locations, torque converter, etc..
