I just bought my daughter a 2010 VW Jetta, the a/c is very cold out all vents except the middle 2 on the dash, it's like they're not open but they are......any thoughts?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The air is very cold out other vents and even where the defroster would blow.

Does your car have the vent on top of the dash (above the center vents) that blows air up towards the windshield? Closing redirects air through the center vents which might help.

yes, there is a vent but it's under the windshield, appears to be the defrost vent, cold air does come out there when the a/c is on though......how do I close it?.....I'm not familiar with the workings of a VW.....there are 2 dial (left, right wheel like) that turn just under the center vents, the center vents are open....air is blowing good on the side vents and at defrost area, it's just the 2 main vents above knobs that don't blow, so I am sure it has to be something simple that we're missing.....how do I close the defrost to redirect?

use the dial switch that changes the settings :P if the dial does not change it its either got a broken blend door or the cable has some how come off. check all your settings and see what works and what doesnt. such as the floor vents, defog vents and the upper vents.

Thank you, I have it fixed now, it was the settings, I just wasn't familiar with all the slide options and controls for this car.
