blinker stops working when headlights come on

This is a very repeatable problem. When the headlights come on, the left
front blinker stops working. I've been able to reproduce it in my garage. If it's
dark in the garage, the headlights come on and the left blinker stops working.
If I shine a light on the dashboard sensor, the headlights (eventually) turn off
and the left blinker starts working again. This is without touching anything
else, thus I don't think it's a relay, blinker module, light bulb, or column switch.
What's going on here?

Thanks for the response! I did check that. I've re-soldered and re-wired all of the connectors to the main wire harness, and actually manually connected the main ground of the headlight assembly directly to the negative side of the battery. I've also removed all other bulbs from the light housing to make sure another bulb isn't causing the problem. Still have the same problem. If I turn off the headlights, the blinker is fine. If I turn them on, the front right doesn't blink, and the rear right blinks 2x speed. Any other ideas?
