My husband bought a damaged chevrolet Impala 2012 We are trying to match the silver matalic paint and the sticker on the door is missing.How do we get the number for the paint.

A dealership will sell you the exact paint you need, or some paint/body shops can color match the paint (using their own formula, but it may not be as exact a match compared to using the dealership's). A good auto paint supply store will most likely already have a stock color in their inventory, they can determine the color you have based on make/model/year, even if your data tag is missing.

If you run the VIN it should give you the color.
