more time it died and I got worried and
came home. Popped hood and no oil at
all..never once in 3 years has it came
on. It sounds terrible..like a
helicopter..had oil changed today..an
lucas oil additive also..did not quiet it
down one bit...sounds worse and
smells burnt now..cant accelerate
normally...dipstick seems
burnt..100,000 mile warranty expired
by 2,000 miles...still owe $22,000..been
searching all night and extremley
common problem...there is a new
recall reported by several news
articles...however the recall issused in
2019 has not been announced
properly because of the government
shutdown this year...and still has not
been announced properly and is A
continuance of a previous recall...typed
it into google even a lawsuit has
popped up...kia has a fail rate...100,000
miles if youre lucky....today is going to
be a long day of arguing with kia

we are dealing with the same problem. Ours uses about a quart every 500 miles. Done all regular maintenance. The engine sucks. Had it tested during the fire recall they told me it looks good. I told them I can drive it about 4000 miles and blow it up if they like because there will be no more oil in the car. Sounds like a good engine to me , dingbats

Very upset, my 2014 Kia Sorento V6 EX all of a sudden started making a noise and running rough, checked the oil and not a drop on the stick.. Took it to the Kia Dealer and they tell me it needs a new engine. No Warning Light came on to let me know!
Our 2012 kia sx just lost the engine. Wife driving down the highway and got off the exit and it started making alot of engine noise and babied it home. I came home and looked at it and all the oil sprayed out of the back of the engine and completely soaked underneath the car. Needless to say the engine is shot. I was told a rebuilt would be 7000 or more and i still owe 8000. Ive driven cars for 30 years and have never had an engine blow. This is my first and last Kia
Forgot to mention the oil light never came on as it sprayed all of it out down the highway
Ours just did this 2 days ago. 2014 Kia Sorento with the 4 cylinder, 110,000. Locked up tight with no warning, no oil on the dipstick. No warning lights or anything. Put in 4 quarts just to get it to show on the dipstick. Quoted $9000 for a remanufactured engine. I have a call into Kia.
I'm having the same type of issue with my 2013 Kia Optima started at a hundred thousand miles. No oil light ever came on but I notice that I had very little oil in my car after having an oil change and driving 1000 miles. I'm definitely having a oil consumption issues (like many of you) Kia is aware of their engine issue which makes their bearing heat up and burn off oil extremely fast. I was told unless my engine is knocking it won't be covered under the recall.
Exact same thing happened to my 2015 KIA sorento. no oil light taking kids to bus lost power to find out i cracked the block and threw a rod, I've kept up on all maintenance too
We have the same issue with our 2013 Kia Sorento V6. Engine began ticking so I checked the oil level, empty. My wife stated no oil lights came on. I refilled, drove 1000 miles and no oil, again!!!! Car started smoking blue when starting up but quits after that.

My 2015 Kia sedona was making noise so we checked under hood and oil bone dry. No oil light came on or anything.
My 2014 Sorento keeps showing dry on the dipstick, no warning light comes on, have to add a quart about every 500 miles...is there a recall on this
I had the same issue happen. Has anyone had any luck getting it covered under warranty?
My 2016 Sorento stopped running today with a diagnosis of a locked up engine and no oil. My last service was March 6th and I have had no lights on to signify anything going on. Warranty doesn’t seem to want to cover this either?? I’m not happy!!!
Same thing happened here. 2014 Kia Sorento LX and the engine blew on the highway with my family inside. Oil light came on 10 seconds before it completely died.
Does anyone bother to check their oil level anymore? Warranties don't cover neglect.
@F_O_R When the oil was changed very recently, within a month, and your suppose to have a $2000+ diagnostic system in the vehicle that fails to operate correctly or at all who checks there oil every day in a vehicle less then 5 years old. I have a 1970 vehicle that reports better then this POS Kia.
My 2015 Kia Sedona started acting up and stalled one day. It started back up and we took it to the Kia dealership we bought it brand new in 2015. No check engine light nor low oil light were ever on prior to it stalling and no lights on when we dropped it off. The service department called and gave us bad news stating that the engine was short 3 qts of oil and developed a lower end rod knock and the engine needs replacing! I asked why was there no advanced warning on the "low oil level"? They had no explanation on the phone and said that they'd speak to the service department manager and call us back. So now we wait and see on what happens but we have a bad feeling they aren't going to be much help...
Drove My 2014 Kia Sorento EX V6 the night before, heard a faint noise while driving. NO warning lights came on. Started it the next morning, heard faint engine noise again. Shut the engine off and restarted it, no noise, it cut itself off in about 30 seconds. Checked the oil, none registering on the dipstick. Should I fill it with oil and try to restart it?
2014 Optima SX just died, Engine seized. No oil, no warning ever. Nice expensive fix, may tell him to keep it. Perhaps listen to all the former Kia owners telling you to get rid of it at 100,000km. Has anybody had any luck with complaints to KIA?

Very upset as well, my 2015 Kia Sorento V6 all of a sudden made a heck of noise and shut down standing me along side the road and would not restart. Checked the oil and it was barely reading on the stick.. Took it to the garage and they tell me it needs a new engine(locked up engine) to the tune of $10000. No Warning Light came on to let me know!

My 2013 Sorento has an engine knock due to no oil reading on dipstick. The oil llight on instrument panel never came on. I have a case # with KiA but have little hope of KIA admittting fault. The car is consuming oil at a rate of 1 qt. every 600 miles. Sixty years ago one would check the oil regularly maybe every few hundred miles. It appears KIA engineering hasn't advanced since they suggest checking oil every few hundred miles.

My 2017 Kia Sorento did the same thing. No lights or warnings in place or shown, but my vehicle shut down. It sped up and then shut off. I went to Kia ,and they want to run a diagnostic on it for $159.00 with no help at all in regard to fixing it. I can see if a light was on and I totally ignored it. I would be totally responsible. I didn't get a warning at all telling me to get to your nearest dealership or auto parts store to run a code. This isn't fair to anyone. I have an older vehicle that is burning a little oil, it it lets me know that my oil is getting low. My 2017 Kia didn't warn me at all. There's a malfunction in the warning light sysytem, and every customer should have their vehicles fixed free of charge.
