Brake light switch?

Asked by Kayleigh Jan 19, 2018 at 05:18 AM about the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently replaced my tail lights. Each went
out on their own. I replaced the bulb and
one of my connections snapped so I got a
new one to put the bulb in. Now that I have
done this, it seems like my brake lights
don’t work if my running lights are off. And
when my running lights are on, my brake
lights are bright beacons that are on
continuously, no change when I step on
the brakes. Is this the brake light switch?
I’ve replaced the fuse as well. Still nothing.

it;s probably the socket in the back , everything needs a ground and it sounds like something is amiss in the back , a multi tester will tell you whats wrong because you can't see electricity and a bad socket or installation can do funny things
