Question type: General

Optimal speed/fuel economy while pulling 3000lb trailer

1 Answer

Right around 55 mph. Many states limit you to 55 anyway. I have towed a lot and 55 to 60 works for me. High speeds cause a lot of aerodynamic drag which is bad for fuel economy. You want to go fast enough (on flat ground) to get into top gear. Use the fuel economy readout if you have one.
