These are known for all the coil packs going out together. These are what sits on top of the spark plugs . Ford recommends replacing all coils (8) and the spark plugs too. Can be very expensive if taken to the dealer.

Thank you for your answer. I do know a little about cars, but not Fords and not these newer more computerised models.Don't want to get taken advantage of at the local Midas dealers. He acts like the car has to be in there for days, and he has No idea what could be causing the problem. I had even suggested that it could be the wires and the spark plugs.

Yes,I worked for Ford 12 years and this was the fix but you have to change it all.

Any "codes"? Most parts stores will check it for you if you don't have a reader. I replaced all coil packs and sparkplugs (Autolite double Platinum) You can check the coil packs with the engine and remove one coil pack....if the engine remains the same then that pack/cylinder/plug etc is bad. Of course, if the engine does start running poorly, that's one of your problems. Replace spark plugs (with Autolite - Ford engines "like" Autolite) Do this for each cylinder. NOW - each cylinder that does not change the way it's running, I'd swap what is known as a good coil pack with a bad one. If the original cylinder runs worse when you remove the swapped, most likely it's a bad coil pack.
