I have an oil leak at the back of the engine block where the vacume hose for the intake manifold is connected. does anyone know how this fitting is removed and if there is a replaceable seal?

not sure on the Mazdas. I would get a Chilton or Haynes manual. It will have pics and tell you how to do anything you want to do.

I've had four MPV's. The fitting that you are refering to has an Oring in it's base. Even thought this maybe leaking now, I would suggest that the cams plugs in the back of the heads be replaced when the fitting is repaired . All of my vans had them replaced at the 100,000 mile mark as well as 200,000. They are very close to the exhaust manifold and get brittle and leak oil onto the exhaust manifold...
