I have a 1990 ford ranger with a 2.9. someone put a later moldel 5 speed in it and now it knocks the teeth off bendix drives. any solution would be appreciated

Change starter to the tranny or change the flywheel one size smaller

I just hope that all the people that want to swap this model year part and put it in that model year are reading this , shims may help or match the starter/flywheel to the other year , bendex is a manufacturer , I think you mean the spur gear
