you need to get a NEW battery, then follow the black 1/0 cable (not the battery cable clamp end) but the other end....unbolt that connection and wirebrush till shiny the lug and chassis then re-assemble them....also the 1/0 cable to the motor block (near the alternator)~ get everything free of corrosion and turn the key~
That sounds like the alternator
check your switch , i have the same car and recently had to replace the switch, which was doing the same thing ! it took a lot of unneeded costly, repairs to figure it out so i hope this helps !

Yes I would suggest check the switch, battery and alternator. Or take it into a mechanic if these don't provide you with any answers. Good luck!
What "switch" are you all talking about? Usually just a "click" noise means your starter is toast.... Battery & Alternator are specific terms.... "switch" could be a billion things... Just a little confused as now my Alero won't start & clicks like a starter is out....but I wanna know about this "switch".... hmmm
Thought about it a bit, maybe you are all referring to the Ignition Switch. So what if you bypass that & use a flathead screwdriver to pop the solenoid? It clicks but the motor in start doesn't turn. So...not Ignition Switch. So...um Alternator, well charge up the battery real good....should be able to jump the car, get it running & check the alternator. Nope, full charge...just "click"....Autoparts store said Starter was good, now I'm thinking their full of BS & it's crapped out. All routes lead me back to my starter...
