Where does a Automatic Transmission Solenoid for a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Located?

You need professional help here. I owned transmission shops and built everything that came in the door, and I don't think someone with no experience in rebuilding a valve body should ever try to replace a solenoid ---- no matter if they have a map, a flashlight and the desire. SECONDLY: a flush is just about the worst thing to do to a transmission. I've seen some cars not make it out of the driveway after a flush - and any service -flush is NOT what a transmission needs after it has a problem. Transmission servicing, where the filter, the pan gasket and a lot of the fluid gets renewed, is for MAINTENANCE only. It's not to repair a bad unit. And stop driving the car until it's fixed. Driving it now is just raising the final cost to fix it.

My husband is a mechanic but he's never worked on pontiac's transmission before. But thanks for the answer regardless my step dad helped us and hes been a diesel mechanic for 20 + years, we just had to skype and for him to explain/show step by step.

My car is back up and running and notice a huge difference. My husband had problems pulling out the old solenoid last night as it was broken in two different places. I had to find a small pair of needle nose pliers to pull out a broken piece. My husband put everything back together this morning including new solenoid (obviously), filter, gasket, and new transmission oil and is running smoothly, the check engine light is no longer on. I am very happy with the work he did and the help we recieved.

Where was the solenoid located? My transmission is doing the same thing. First started out with slipping then wouldn't move. Strangely if you disconnect the battery, wait a couple mins and re connect car moves fine for so many miles. I took it to a local shop and explained it...they tried saying it was the torque converter lol...disconnecting the battery doesn't reset a torque converter so i think my issue is that solenoid.
