Why does the van alarm sound when I try to crank the van

Asked by Joesnewwife Oct 14, 2015 at 02:01 PM about the 1999 Pontiac Montana

Question type: General

I turned the key to accessory (not to start it) so I could let the window down.
The panic alarm started. It also starts when I crank the van, and just driving
down the road it will randomly start blowing. It shuts off if I push the panic
button again. What could be causing this?

Was the key accidentally washed after left inside the pocket? You may need to get a new key/remote and program it (it's easy ... you can get the key on E-Bay with instructions) I would do that first because it's the cheapest and easiest thing to try
