1999 sunfire starts hard. Could it be out of time
Asked by Pauline Jul 05, 2015 at 11:28 AM about the 1999 Pontiac Sunfire
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 1999 pontiac sunfire is starting
hard. The starter was replaced n it
works just fine but now it acts like the
battery is dead then after I let fuel
pump kick on it starts really hard.
No noise once started or while
driving.
Could it be slightly out of time???????
Please help.
I cant afford to take to a certified
mechanic.
I live pay check to pay check

May just need some plug,s and maybe air filter, fuel filter, change,if it were out of time you would notice lost power when driving.

Hey T_S_T you are right that you would lose power when driving but that is if it timing was to far advanced if timing is ( I can not think of the word I am looking for to explain when timing is to far back ) but that would cause hard starting.
Firebird338,the word is tarded, meaning behind time, you are right, but i think i would check the simple things first,to rule them out, then go for the timeing.

I guess its about what they mean by hard starting. If they mean that it hesitates a few times in between trying to start

It may be the timing but if hard starting means turning over for a period of time before starting that is a different story.
