Possible fixes for water in cylinder

Asked by John Jun 22, 2016 at 12:00 AM about the 1999 Subaru Forester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Subaru Forester. It has a
problem with cooling and I checked the 4
cylinders today to find water in my 4th. I'm
pretty lost as far as possibilities on trouble
shooting. I've heard trying sodium silicate
would be a good start, but I thought I
should get another opinion. Thanks

Cracked head or bad head gaskets Subaru,s eat them alive but there much worst in the last decade, to present then in '99. Check the Subaru forums the most common topic "head gaskets". Regards

I agree, likely a head gasket, cracked cylinder head or block. I also agree with tennisshoes, do NOT use any type of sealant in the engine as it may make things worse.
