Was a 66 chevelle ever raced on a road coarse

Dear gordon-- I won't say the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle was never raced on a road course, but this muscle car showed the best on the drag strip. The Chevrolet Camaro was better suited to road-type racing and that is the Chevy model you find in results from road races of yore. Good luck from Bovan.

The Camaro might have been better suited because of the weight, BUT the Camaro wasn't built until the '67 model year, so the '66 Chevelle had been out for a year. I think it was Trans Am Series, where some people did race '66 Chevelles on road courses (the series started around 1965/1966). Sure, with the Camaro, the Chevelle wouldn't be much of a contender... I don't recall Nascar having any road courses back then, but there were some higher profile '66 Chevelles. The most high-profile was probably Smokey Yunick's Black and Gold #13 (driven by Curtis Turner?)...
