I have the VIN number for a 1973 Chevrolet Malibu SS. How can I track it to see if the car still exists?

Looking for status of a 1973 Chevelle Malibu SS. I have the VIN number.

Trying to find this car? If you have a friend on police or working at b m v they can check for you under the table.You can't do this your self through b m v.You need help,had some one call about my car after about 30 yrs.that's how he did it.

I wasn't looking for anyone individually to track down a car for me, just asking if there was someplace online that could search a 13 digit (instead of 17 digit) VIN number. Somebody has to be able to do this besides the police.

Once a car has been destroyed all records go with it. But if it still exist, for a fee you can find the info from the DMV providing it is still in the state.

If your car was built or sold new in Canada, Vintage Vehicle Services in Oshawa has all the info at a price which is somewhere north of $130 today. http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html
