Car won't go in reverse

Does the shifter go into the reverse position? Does the engine rev up when you give it gas in reverse? Do you have any lights on the dash due to the transmission? As in a trans fault light or a check engine light? If you have no fault lights, check the trans fluid level. Check condition of fluid, does it smell burnt or is it frothy? Beyond these simple checks, it will probably require a transmission pro. Reverse servo failures are relatively common in Ford trucks.
