'07 civic - spark plug gap on the Denso iridium plug?

The original plugs had a .044 gap.

if u get the stock plugs from honda they should be pre-gapped.

Thanks Larry. New in the box from Honda they are 0.040 and on the outside of the box it says "Before installation, adjust spark plug gap to meet your engine specifications".

Yeah, it's always a good idea to check the gap before installing new plugs. I'm glad I could help.

Thanks for the reply, Adam. However, to not mislead other Civic owners, Honda states on the outside of the box; "Before installation, adjust spark gap to meet your engine specifications". Our member, Larry, said that Honda says 0.044. But now you've got me thinking. Closer gap...hotter plug...better performance. Replacing spark plugs only every 105,000 is great. But I wonder how mpg & longevity of plug are affected(effected) I never know which.

like lary said, its always good to check ur gap! i work at a honda dealership and i've always been old by the rest of the techs that the plugs we get for diff. engines are pre-gapped. But if honda says to check ur gap then thats what you should do. Now with the characteristics of the plugs, a shorter gap will just ensure a good spark, but its small so you might not get adequate combustion. To big of a gap will have a bigger spark for better combustion, but you risk the spark blowing out. My opinion, i wouldnt change the gap. Also stay with the right heat range to avoid detonation and incomplete combustion. Also irdium plugs will last 100k because they are iridium (much stronger and durable than platinum) but it sure wouldn't hurt to change them sooner. The only time you really need to change things like that is if you are heavily modifying your engine:)

Do Hondas come with Denso plugs from the factory? I saw on their Denso's website that they do have some plugs that are pre-gapped.
