i have a 2001 chevy s-10. when i turn it off my gas and temp gage go down then they go up 1/2 way again with the truck off????

Give a couple of thumps with your fist on top of the dashboard above the gages. Sometimes its just a matter of a loose or confused connection. But if the gages reset themselves when you start it and all works fine, I would not worry about it for the cost of the repair !

One other thing to try is to disconnect the battery positive cable for five minutes. It may be a surge to cause this problem. Let us know if any of this works, ok?
