k2500 suddenly stopped running

Asked by Noobie_1_kanoobie Nov 02, 2018 at 11:35 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet C/K 2500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Cranked my truck this morning and it started fine. Let it run for about 4 minutes as I normally do, putting it in D and started traveling up our road. Within about 400 feet the motor just shut off.

It shut off before in the past and it turned out to be the battery cables. But when this happened the lights and all went out. But this time lights stayed on. And after cleaning all the terminals really good, it still wont crank.

It will turn over strong, but just will not start. I am getting spark to the plugs. I spray starting fluid in the intake, but still not starting.

I am not a mechanic so in laymen terms what could be wrong? What would it sound like if it jumped timing? (my theory)

It doesn't backfire, or even sound like it's going to start at all.
