I think this may be a fuel pump, but I'd like to know other's thoughts too. My Chevy 1500 series '94 has lost acceleration. It won't go beyond 5 mph and had to be towed. It's not a fuel filter. What else could it be? How can I tell without taking it in?

Hi nelleth! There aren't enough details here to help you pin down the problem. If the engine runs normally you are probably working with a transmission problem. If the engine runs poorly and won't rev properly you could be looking at a fuel chain issue. You should probably have someone look at it at this point. Good luck!

It could be a gas problem. Try filling up with 91 octane or higher. Also use Techron (2 per tank full) See if it works. --also I try to buy gas ethanol free when ever I can. I do it in areas where they sell gas for lawn mowers. ...This is what has been working for me.
