99 Solara: Water pump/timing belt replaced, now engine issues

Asked by hernan_1999 Mar 12, 2018 at 03:38 PM about the 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We had the water pump and timing belt replaced on our 99 Solara after it
snapped, and since then the engine seems to be loosing power or misfiring
when shifting between gears. From reading other forums, it seems that we
have a non-interference engine, so we thought it unlikely that damage to the
engine or piston heads would have been caused during the breakdown.
Could the timing be off? The mechanic who replaced it said no, and thought
it was transmission but others have told us it is not transmission but engine-
related. Any other ideas? It has 104, 000 miles. Thanks!

the mechanic shouldn't give the car back if it wasn't right , if they didn't find other problems then it should run and you should have them fix it or take it somewhere else
